Now is your chance to share in the experience of singing along with or just listening to a well known local choir of 60 years standing at no cost other than your time! Come and go as you please, every one welcome including students and couples.
On Tuesday 24th June the choir will have an open rehearsal covering hymns we all know and love to sing as well as popular male voice choir pieces. You will hear the organ stretched to it’s limits by the very talented accompanist - John S Bailey. John’s television appearances include numerous times on BBC’s Songs of Praise and Last of the Summer Wine!
The choir is looking to swell the ranks with keen young men between the ages of 18 and 80. So if you enjoy music, now is the time to see what it is like to share your talent with others. There is no requirement to read music to sing in G.M.V.C.
The choir travels nationally and internationally to perform in concerts and competitions, this gives those involved a weekend away such as to the Royal Albert Hall, London and recently breaks in France and Belgium. Their last event was the Gala Concert in Huddersfield Town Hall on 10th May where the choir made full use of Huddersfield Choral Society Junior Choir and Kirklees Youth Symphony Orchestra.
The choir’s objectives are - enjoyment, to encourage music within the community, charity fund raising and music enhancement / development.
Put this new church event on your calendar and you won’t be disappointed. For any more information please speak to Ralph Leach or visit the choir’s web site at www.gledholt.org.uk
