Gledholt Male Voice Choir

Sixty Years of Music Making

CHOIR AIMS

Enjoyment : We all thoroughly enjoy singing on Tuesday evenings - our rehearsal night, and as well as this we also relish being part of the choir, the fellowship, our trips, our FOG events and, of course, the concerts we give. Our local and overseas trips give us much pleasure and broaden our horizons as well as enabling us to appreciate how music can truly be an international language of peace and harmony.

Encouraging Music within the Community : Fostering good relations within the choir and with the outside community. The Music Festival is one way we aim to achieve this objective. We are also organising open rehearsals in churches and Community Centres to encourage music in the community.

Charity : We support Charities in the community. Our Music Festival in 2008 supported the Classic FM Music Makers charity whose “aim is to fund music therapy and education projects which help needy children and vulnerable adults across the UK”.

Musical Enhancement and Development : We see this as a continuous process and as an aging choir we appreciate the need to recruit, train and support younger people to join choirs and to support the development and enhancement of music to keep the musical traditions in our community for the next generation.
